mt-tamalpais-sunsetBREAKING NEWS: Calif State Parks will only allow you in FREE to all STATE PARKS if you have an ACCESS PASS.  How to get one?? Find out on Smart Green Travel.

Mt. Tamalpais - means ‘Bay Mountain’ - the Coast Miwok Indian definition

Plus, Mom’s and Dad’s,  I have an excellent One Day, Mt. Tamalpais plan for your next, all day, and into the evening, family outing.  Mt. Tamalpais has one of the best Mountain Outdoor Theater, astrology shows. Can’t you see you and the kids, looking up at the stars, talking about Galileo? Do you know the history of the Gravity Railroad Cars at the East Peak of Mt. Tam?  Make it a family, Mt. Tam excursion, and explore the new museum on Mt. Tam where you envelope what life was like in the late 1800’s, for Bay Area residents on the Railroad Gravity Cars! There was no Disneyland back then, and this train was the “E” ticket.

Mt. Diablo
Did you know, 10% of California’s native plants are on Mt. Diablo, and, because Diablo means Devil, a coalition wants to change the name. WHAT? Find out why on Smart Green Travel on Green 960 AM San Francisco or at www.TheGreenMorning.com. Get inspired to camp for one night on this easy access, clean mountain for camping, just minutes from the freeway, Rock City on Mt. Diablo.  Hike Mt. Diablo, even if you’re a rookie hiker, and never feel like your exercising or sweating just to enjoy one of California’s first State Parks.

Mt. Shasta
Joe Kidd, a really cool guy I met at San Francisco Green Drinks,  shares with you, their connection to nature, that changed them, after choosing to get one, with Shasta’s spiritual, serene, and surreal visual sensations.  Why get to Shasta in your lifetime? What’s the big deal with a mountain that John Muir called, the most unpredictable mountainess weather conditions, anywhere in the world? Less than seasoned hikers, show how in love they are with Mt. Shasta, on Smart Green Travel.  Green in the Mountains, revealing what a green hiker does, specifically, to reduce carbon footprints with every Mt. Shasta step.

dead_041509_-1-5thThe Grateful Dead & The Rocky Mountains - What did the Grateful Dead do in Denver that didn’t happen in any other city?  Is Denver really that Green? Prove it!!! Ok, they did, on Smart Green Travel, it’s all Denver clocking in at #2 for the most Green city I’ve discovered, other than San Francisco.  Denver is sooooooooooo couscous to Being Green. Within just a one mile radius, there are three sports green stadiums, the country’s second largest performing arts complex, an assortment of art and history museums, a mint producing 10 billion coins a year, a river offering whitewater rafting, the country’s only downtown amusement park, a new world-class aquarium, more than 8,000 hotel rooms and more than 300 restaurants, most organic beer brewed per day than any other American city and of course, the music. What the Grateful Dead did in Denver, that’s historical, only on Smart Green Travel, with Jerry Hart.

Ernest Hemmingway once said that THIS BEACH was the World’s Best Beach - Best Green Beaches on Smart Green Travel on Green 960 AM San Francisco

National Geographic joins Smart Green Travel to reveal what is a Green Beach? Plus, I’ll share my Top 10 beaches, the ones to get too, before they become certified green.

I turned to the Clean Beaches Council, a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit organization that runs the Blue Wave beach program in the U.S. to identify the top 10 beaches.

Are you tanning with a green conscious? Ready for some swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving, or none of that? Smart Green Travel is all about finding places where it’s just you and the sun - that’s all you need, huh?

I can see them, your buns planted firmly on a delightful beach, where the only oil you’re seeing is from a bottle with high SPF levels, so you can rub it on your legs.

For most beach-goers, assessing a beach is simple. Is the sand good for castle construction? Is ice cream readily available? Is the water warm and relatively jellyfish-free? If not, no problem–there are plenty of other beaches in the sea.

But what about a truly special beach? One with unique physical features–such as sand comprised of tiny, star-shaped shells or a stunning mountain backdrop–where the water is super clean and the sand isn’t in danger of vanishing because solid environmental management policies are in place? And let’s not forget the opportunity to swim with dolphins, snorkel over barrier reefs and spot birds and other local wildlife.

All ten beaches were chosen for their unique geologic features, innovative management practices and progressive environmental safeguards. None of them are currently designated Blue Flag or Blue Wave, for the most part because they haven’t been developed to the extent necessary for certification. We suggest you go before they are.

Click here for a look at a few of the world’s breathtaking beaches.

Are you a fan of Angel Island? TourismCares.org cleans up the island and hopes you can join their mission. Hear this amazing story of commitment to preserving our future.

Special Interview: Nelson Mandela attracts World Cup to South Africa, plus Green Weddings on Smart Green Travel with Jerry Hart on Green 960 AM San Francisco

Sponsored by Dome Guys: When one of their geodesic domes first comes into view, you’ll feel a sense of wonderment and anticipation. Step inside the dome, and the experience truly feels like no other.

So, lets say you just don’t care about the biggest sports event in the world, World Cup. But wait!, there’s so much to glean from the people of South Africa, on a personal level.  We travel to African continent this week to hear Mandela’s message of forgiveness, in a world of contention, uncertainty, and fear.  He said, “If I cannot change when circumstances demand it, how can I expect others too”.

If that one didn’t penetrate, here’s another one. “To build hope for family and friends, we must exceed our own expectations”, Mandela said.

Lets go to South Africa, and do it on a tight budget without going there on Smart Green Travel, as we welcome Ms. Sthu Zungu, working hand in hand with Nelson Mandela everyday, directing the WorldCup, and at the helm of Tourism for South Africa.

Plus, is this a joke? 5 star luxury Kenyazi South Africa Wildlife Safari. It’s not! I found Chris Cote, from Gilroy, being responsible morally and socially aware. Kenyazi, translated into English means, “Star”.  Nothing like a few minutes with a great guy from the Bay Area who lives in Africa 8 months out of the year. When you’re ready to do Africa, you’ll remember this interview, and how it pierced your consciousness. Spending money on your sustainable travel plans is  so moving, when your hard earned bucks turn into fresh water wells for those who need it so badly in the very places where you Safari. We honor Chris Cote, for bridging hunger and water relief missions with 5 star luxury African Safari trips, on this weeks Smart Green Travel with Jerry Hart.

And finally, what’s a Green Wedding? Did you know, in the Bay Area we have 54,000 weddings each year. Average cost? $26,000. Try spending that in San Francisco. Sorry. You’re not quite there yet. Try $50,000 for a wedding.

Our Green Event Planners and Photographers are very direct. “The wedding industry missed this opportunity to support the sustainable economy. It sells over consumption and unsustainable products”, said  Corina Ann Beczner, of www.vibrantevents.net

Listen to Smart Green Travel with Jerry Hart, for everything deeply rooted in a Green event/wedding.
