Free Family Event Summer Sailstice on Treasure Island on Smart Green Travel on Green 960 AM San Francisco

Summer Sailstice for the family, on the Island we treasure, Treasure Island. Toss one of the Boat, Yacht, or Sailboat owners a small donation [for tight budgets, we're talking small, like 5 to 20 bucks] to support sailing schools for kids, and you’re entire family can sail on all kinds of water vessels, big and small, all weekend long. A bottom line bargain for the family, with the best view of San Francisco, and a perfect picnic spot on Saturday, June 26 and Sunday, June 27

What’s a Reality Tour?
The idea that travel can be educational, fun, and positively influence international affairs motivated the first Global Exchange Reality Tours in 1989. Their tours provide individuals the opportunity to understand issues beyond what is communicated by the mass media and gain a new vantage point from which to view and affect US foreign policy. Travelers are linked with activists and organizations from around the globe who are working toward positive change. They also hope to prompt participants to examine related issues in their own communities.

The San Francisco Zoo has opened a Green Exhibit.  If it’s about animals, we’re probably talking about it on Smart Green Travel.

Plus, Special Guest, Beth Greer, SuperNaturalMom, from Green 960 AM’s www.thegreenmorning.com,  illuminates you with the latest water bottles and food dyes to avoid, that are banned in Europe, yet still available for you to ingest here in the United States

Oil clean up nylons stuffed with pet and human hair from San Francisco’s Matter of Trust.org on Smart Green Travel on Green 960 AM San Francisco

Big Round of applause for MatterofTrust.org, requesting hair salons all over the nation to donate nylons stuffed with pet and human hair oil boom clean up effort. www.MatterofTrust.org, gleaned the idea from a TV show on Bravo and 6 months ago started collecting Nylons. It was intuition about a potential oil spill catastrophe that lead them to start asking hair salons all over the country to chip in hair from everywhere. Matter of Trust was already in divine leadership to start a national campaign to collect nylons to save the wildlife and beaches.

We here in the Bay Area know how moving [no pun intended] it is, when we have an earthquake, then to join hands of neighbors we probably never met, and then BOOM! Crisis ensues, and it’s the ones you’ve been feet apart from and never spoken too, who then graciously count on you and you for them, to provide whatever is needed in those frightening moments.

The Ritz-Carlton, New Orleans is accepting donations of nylons, hair and fur on behalf of Matter of Trust (www.matteroftrust.org) to create booms for the oil spill.  Louisiana and millions of Gulf residents are once again teaching us that crisis reveals the most honest, sincere part of us. It’s where Doing green and Being green divide.

“The fishermen and farmers are important to our livelihood; says Char Thian from Ritz Carlton - New Orleans. We want to let them know that we care. In honor of being green, M Bistro Restaurant in the Ritz, New Orleans is the only restaurant in the ‘Big Easy’ to have a compost program.  They also have something called R.E.A.C.T.; it is a team of employees that meet monthly to find ways to make The Ritz-Carlton, New Orleans more energy efficient and eco-conscious.  Every little bit counts.”

If you’re emotional about the spill and will not stand down until you see changes NOW from the White House, Earth Day Network will mirror your frustration and offers where to go and what to do with all the emotions on the issue to make necessary regulation changes. If you’re an optimist about America’s future, you’ll hear that tone from the leaders of Louisiana on the front lines of this disaster.

You might be surprised how some of  New Orleans constituents seem patient with the Government and BP’s response to the oil spill.

Smart Green Travel presents an interesting perspective for us here in the Bay Area, 2000 miles away from the spill.

In a museum in the morning and on a mountain in the afternoon, only in San Francisco! on Smart Green Travel on Green 960 AM San Francisco

What are you doing for a Green Memorial Day Weekend? Stay home near the cool fog, treat yourself and that work-a-holic schedule to a cool relaxing restaurant. Next,  open your intentions to the best of our city, our neighborhoods yet to be explored, so many cultures to experience. Always more to discover…Only in San Francisco.

Here was my favorite part of this weeks Smart Green Travel, especially with a famous brother, drummer of the Grateful Dead. Come with me, and lets take a 90 minute ride on the “Magic Bus”. Video screens inside the plush retro bus and tuned up for a trip without the acid, back to the 60’s, as one of the most special features of San Francisco’s International Arts Festival.

If I changed my attitude about dancers that sacrifice so much to come to our home, San Francisco, from all over the world, you might do the same. I’ve realized, with the help of Andrew Wood, Director of San Francisco’s International Art Festival, that the dancer craves to unveil societal issues thru their dancing, genuinely explaining today’s society breakdowns and turmoil, with hope that we understand each other, no matter what color we are, worldwide.

20 dance organizations from all over the world are coming to San Francisco and how more green can you be than to take the family down to Fort Mason on Memorial Day Weekend or enjoy free to watch dancing in Union Square with extremely talented, skilled, tenacious dancers with a pure message of BEING green shared thru their performance

Nearly a decade ago, San Francisco was riding high on the wealth of the dot com explosion. And it showed in outrageously high priced hotels, restaurants and real estate. When the bubble burst, the city was forced to adjust. In fact, now is a great time to visit the somewhat humbler, but just as fabulous, cultural mecca of the Left Coast. Hotels and restaurants have lowered their prices, making it easier to enjoy a weekend here.

One of the best things about San Francisco is that you can be in a museum in the morning and on a mountain in the afternoon. Mind-expanding cultural attractions exist alongside invigorating outdoor activities. Gaze at the work of Jackson Pollock at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art in the morning and then head to Muir Woods to peer up at gigantic redwoods in the afternoon. From the hippie haunts of Haight-Ashbury to the colorful Victorian architecture of the predominantly gay Castro District, and from Japantown to Chinatown, San Francisco is all about neighborhoods. Each has a distinct look and vibe. You could easily spend a day in each or hop on a streetcar to sample a few.

Smart Green Travel with Jerry Hart on Green 960 AM San Francisco, will help all of us literally go green as we learn tips to travel eco-consciously, see the planet we are working so hard to preserve, share ideas and gather ways on how to continue our green journey, while at the same time learning to relax and enjoy every minute we have on this great big home we call Mother Earth.

Underground Portland Walking Tour, a no-holds-barred excursion into the worst Portland has to offer on Smart Green Travel with Jerry Hart on Green 960 AM San Francisco

So what is the Underground Portland Walking Tour? It’s a no-holds-barred excursion into the worst Portland has to offer. The dark and sordid side of Portland. A treat for lovers of all things sinister and you’ll only hear it on Smart Green Travel on Green 960 AM, Saturday’s starting at 11:30 AM.

Portland did promise you a rose garden with a west coast Rose Festival and Parade. If you haven’t heard of Oregon’s Rose Festival happening in May, hear how this celebration is reason enough to head to Portland for Memorial Day Weekend. You thought Pasadena tore it up and turned it on, well, Portland’s Rose Festival includes one of Oregon’s largest fireworks displays, this thunderous pyrotechnics show soars over the Waterfront Village beginning at nightfall.

Locally Organic Sourced Food! Per capita, Portland has the most restaurants offering locally organic food than any other city in America.

And most importantly, Portland is a city of authentic green leaders who are living proof that a large city in America can work together, government and community, in harmony, and walk the talk of BEING green.  Catch their infectious green approach to living consciously sustainable everyday and turn it on! Smart Green Travel right here on Hart of Green.
