Hey have you sat down at a restaurant and had the server hand you the calorie counts on their menus and indoor menu boards? You may know, California is the first state to enact such a law in the battle against America’s expanding waistline.
I’ve been tagged by Marie Calendars Restaurants who right on schedule have followed the legislation that will help Californians make more informed, healthier choices by making calorie information easily accessible at thousands of restaurants throughout the state.
Is it just me or am I hallucinating here? Will the folks that need to lose the weight, appreciate this convoluted data on an una
ttractive hard to read slate of paper that’s been polished with laminate.
Or, is this only going to help those that are great at already managing a green diet just stay on the straight and narrow? Who knows.
Wait, am I hallucinating again? Taco Bell goes green? Holy Mother Mary of Moses! Eat at taco bell, clean the earth. I hear they will melt down the lid, the straws and wrappers that the food comes in….and recycle it into new taco bell foods..you’ll actually be eating the garbage you produce.
Great spoof…check it out.
Taco Bell’s New Green Menu Takes No Ingredients From Nature

And hey, since we’re still hallucinating. McDonalds really does go green! Wow!
The Raleigh News & Observer reports that a new McDonald’s in Cary, North Carolina is going to be the first McDonald’s to have electric vehicle charging stations. The restaurant will have two stations that will let customers charge their cars for free while they eat. The Cary, NC McDonald’s restaurant is also under review to be LEED-certified.
The Cary McDonald’s is under review to be LEED-certified by the U.S. Green Building Council. It would become the third McDonald’s to receive certification, after restaurants in Savannah, Ga., and Chicago.
To start, the restaurant will feature two charging stations, which will sit at the front of a parking space. If the feature proves popular, McDonald’s will expand nationwide.
The charge is free.

Hey Hartofgreen,
I saw that spoof the other day- The Onion is brilliant :)
This is such blatant green washing, I’m left speechless. If you’re eco-conscious enough to drive an electric car, you shouldn’t be contributing to one of the most toxic transnationals out there. Fast food giants and their marketing muscle, I’m fed up with it.
This reminds me of Pepsi’s ridiculous “au natural” campaign where they essentially slapped their logo on yoga mats and expected people to forge a connection.
A non-profit called Corporate Accountability International just launched a clever campaign against fast food called “Value [the] Meal”- you should check them out if you’re interested! http://stopcorporateabuse.org/food-campaign

Hi Gloria, can’t wait to check out your “Value [the] Meal” campaign. I didn’t know about Pepsi trying to go green. Isn’t that tacky when they are disingenuous.
I love drinking Pepsi on occasion, and give them props for admitting their bottled water is tap water. http://www.cnn.com/2007/HEALTH/07/27/pepsico.aquafina.reut/ There were only two water bottling companies who admitted this on 20/20. That’s kahunas from Pepsi, but the yoga mat? C’mon that is cheesy. How could I ever do the “Downward Facing Dog” position and on my return from the fetal position blow out some big ol Pepsi burp. Nahhh…just aint happening. Thanks again Gloria! ….Jerry Hart
