Our wonderful astronauts come home tonight after fixing Hubble for the last time. They plan to launch a new telescope soon and let Hubble disappear into the ether’s. That doesn’t sound very green with shrapnel from Hubble decaying it’s metal for millions of years to come. That’s not nearly as fun to talk about as Hubble’s ability to take photos that take your breath away. Does this photo do it for ya? Sure does for me. Maybe you look up on Google some of the solar systems it’s found recently. It’s absolutely profound and even more unreal when you let your mind wander and wonder what’s out there.
This photo alone got me thinking of other life and are they green on those planets we don’t know about.
I could not believe the beauty of this photo that was all over TV this past week. The minute it I caught it on TV, I was deeply moved by the ominous power of our planet, the solar system and other life forms that may exist.

Hubble snaps Shuttle passing our Sun
Then I thought, if they do, are they much more green then we are. No, not Martians that drink TANG, I mean could there be life that treats their planet with more respect then we do.
It’s this blog that’s unveiling a truth to me about myself and how I can chip in with green respect for earth. This blog shows me how great I feel about myself when I give back and do what I can do to help others.
Who knew? A simple picture of our shuttle passing the moon triggered a question about NASA as to how green are they really?
NASA is a bit of an environmental paradox. On the one hand, they’re in the business of blasting holes in the stratosphere with massive rockets, not to mention littering the final frontier with busted spy satellites and dropped astronaut screwdrivers. They even left a car on the moon.
On the other hand, without data from all those satellites, we’d be missing a huge amount of invaluable info on deforestation, global temperature changes, and other issues of enormous environmental significance. On balance then, I’d say that NASA are basically eco-good-guys.
The only green thing I could find on NASA was when they stepped up to the plate for Earth Day this year with events at centers all around the country, where media and the public met scientists and researchers, asked questions, watched presentations, and listened to panel discussions.
Guess NASA and I have a lot in common at this point. We both have good intentions, yet could be doing a great deal more to do less harm to this planet. I plan on it. Lets see if they step up with transparent truth about how wide and deep they leave their carbon footprint on earth and even on the moon. I’m committed to doing the same.

Great post Jerry! This is a very fascinating blog. It just shows that no matter what size a company is, small or big, everyone should do their part in trying to go green. I look forward to reading more blogs in the near future.
