What are you doing for a Green Memorial Day Weekend? Stay home near the cool fog, treat yourself and that work-a-holic schedule to a cool relaxing restaurant. Next, open your intentions to the best of our city, our neighborhoods yet to be explored, so many cultures to experience. Always more to discover…Only in San Francisco.
Here was my favorite part of this weeks Smart Green Travel, especially with a famous brother, drummer of the Grateful Dead. Come with me, and lets take a 90 minute ride on the “Magic Bus”. Video screens inside the plush retro bus and tuned up for a trip without the acid, back to the 60’s, as one of the most special features of San Francisco’s International Arts Festival.
If I changed my attitude about dancers that sacrifice so much to come to our home, San Francisco, from all over the world, you might do the same. I’ve realized, with the help of Andrew Wood, Director of San Francisco’s International Art Festival, that the dancer craves to unveil societal issues thru their dancing, genuinely explaining today’s society breakdowns and turmoil, with hope that we understand each other, no matter what color we are, worldwide.
20 dance organizations from all over the world are coming to San Francisco and how more green can you be than to take the family down to Fort Mason on Memorial Day Weekend or enjoy free to watch dancing in Union Square with extremely talented, skilled, tenacious dancers with a pure message of BEING green shared thru their performance
Nearly a decade ago, San Francisco was riding high on the wealth of the dot com explosion. And it showed in outrageously high priced hotels, restaurants and real estate. When the bubble burst, the city was forced to adjust. In fact, now is a great time to visit the somewhat humbler, but just as fabulous, cultural mecca of the Left Coast. Hotels and restaurants have lowered their prices, making it easier to enjoy a weekend here.
One of the best things about San Francisco is that you can be in a museum in the morning and on a mountain in the afternoon. Mind-expanding cultural attractions exist alongside invigorating outdoor activities. Gaze at the work of Jackson Pollock at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art in the morning and then head to Muir Woods to peer up at gigantic redwoods in the afternoon. From the hippie haunts of Haight-Ashbury to the colorful Victorian architecture of the predominantly gay Castro District, and from Japantown to Chinatown, San Francisco is all about neighborhoods. Each has a distinct look and vibe. You could easily spend a day in each or hop on a streetcar to sample a few.

- Cable Cars in San Francisco are EXPENSIVE! I was heading to San Francisco's Chinatown for dinner last night.
